*Funding Opportunities*

The Department of Social Development is committed to supporting organizations and initiatives that make a positive impact in our communities. Funding opportunities are available for projects that align with the department’s goals and objectives.

Organizations interested in accessing funding can contact MEC Fikile Mazibuko’s office at 066 005 5801 for more information on the application process. Key dates to note include:

Funding application submission: 18th August to end of September

– Assessment and evaluation period

– Issuance of letters to qualifying organizations: likely October (panelling)

– Payment dates for approved funding: expected in December and April 2026

It’s essential for organizations to stay informed about these dates to ensure timely submissions and follow-ups. The department’s support can significantly enhance the impact of community projects.

*Trainings*

The Department of Social Development is also offering virtual trainings from August 11th to 15th, covering various topics such as HIV and AIDS, Substance Abuse, Disability Support, Older Persons’ Care, and Child Welfare. These trainings aim to equip individuals and organizations with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive impact in their communities.

Certificates will be issued to participants who complete the trainings, which can serve as a testament to their expertise. Organizations and individuals interested in participating can contact MEC Fikile Mazibuko’s office for more information.

*Food Parcels*

The department is also providing food parcels to vulnerable communities in need. This initiative aims to support those who are struggling to access basic necessities. Organizations can reach out to MEC Faith Mazibuko’s office to learn more about the food parcel program and how to access support.
